Looking back, a lot has happened for Unless in the past 12 months. Early 2024, experts predicted that within a decade, generative AI would add up to a trillion Euro to the European market, mostly in customer operations. But so far, the reality is different.

By now, only 33% of European companies have started AI projects, and 90% of those remain in the experimental phase. Key sectors like healthcare and finance show the biggest gap between potential and actual use, leaving open a major business opportunity.

Why is this happening?

For starters, there’s a giant skill gap in Europe. Making AI work in real settings is much harder than it seems when you do a simple pilot.

Secondly, companies often spread their resources too thin across small projects, expecting AI to work like magic dust, rather than redesigning an entire value chain for real return on investment.

Plus, and here is the kicker, regulatory uncertainty - about the compliance of existing AI solutions with EU laws - is blocking large investments.
